For MOVE's October GBM, we are very excited to have Cathy Oaks to speak about all things career, service, and networking. In addition to having a guest speaker, this GBM will serve as an introductory meeting for newly formed committees to start sharing ideas and getting to know one another.

Important: You do not have to be a committee member to attend this event. All are welcome to attend and participate in initial event brainstorming!!

Meeting Agenda:

(6:00 - 6:20)- Guest Speaker: Cathy will be joining us virtually from Seattle, Washington. She plans to speak about her own background, carreer trajectory, and the importance of networking. After this, we will open up the floor for any questions from the audience.

(6:20-6:40)- Committee Brainstorming: Students will break off into their newly formed committees and start intitial idea sharing and brainstorming.

(6:40-6:45)- Share Ideas: Each committee will share out initial service project ideas.

(6:45-7:00)- Socializing: Board games and snacks will be provided as committee members get to know one another and set regular meeting times.

More about our Guest Speaker, Cathy Oaks:

Cathy Oaks is a Partner, General Manager for Azure Reliability (AzRel) in Microsoft’s Azure Customer Experience (CXP) organization, where she leads initiatives to improve cloud service quality, security, and operational excellence. Cathy earned her bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara and an MBA from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business. With over 25 years of experience in product, program and project management, consulting, and leadership, she joined Microsoft in 2018. Cathy is best known for her data-driven decision-making and strategic planning as well as her mentoring and coaching. At Microsoft, she also serves as the executive co-sponsor of Hispanic LatinX Employee Group and Manager Excellence Council. She lives in Bellevue, Washington, with her husband and daughters, Lexi & Addie. Lexi is currently a freshman at Notre Dame and Addie, a junior at Georgia Tech. Cathy enjoys long-distance swimming, volunteers at the Salvation Army food pantry, and coaching a Special Olympics swim team. LinkedIn: Cathy Oaks | LinkedIn
